The Cottage on the River is a completely restored 1920’s “Cottage Style” Bed and Breakfast, located on a bluff, overlooking the Toms River. The ocean beaches, Island Beach State Park, and the Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant boardwalks are only a few minute’s drive away. Whiting, Manchester, Toms River and Lakewood all within 20 minutes. Community Medical Center and many of its physicians are within 4 miles.
We are open year round and located just over an hour away from Atlantic City, Manhattan and Philadelphia. Island Heights is home for the Ocean County Artist Guild, Nelson’s Marina Sailing School, Island Heights Yacht Club and over 100 restored Victorian homes. A very safe community it is ideal for leisurely walks and biking. Fishing and crabbing are just a step away.
After completing an addition in February 2007, The Cottage now offers two Suites with complimentary wireless internet. Our newest are the Riverview Suite; with private entrance, king size euro plush bed, private balcony with magnificent views of the Toms River, multi jetted marble walk-in shower, sitting area, refrigerator, and TV.
The Captain's Suite has a private entrance, queen size bed, TV, sitting area, and refrigerator. There is an adjoining bedroom with double bed. Both rooms have wireless internet, views of the river and majestic oak and pine trees. The sunsets are magnificent and the colors in the Spring and Autumn are spectacular!
Breakfast will be served in your suite overlooking the river. When you return from your day of activities or business meetings enjoy a magnificent sunset or a sailing regatta while relaxing on our large and comfortable deck.

Rooms and Views
At the Cottage on the River, our goal is to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A continental breakfast will be served in your room from 8 - 9:30 am each morning. If we can help with dining reservations, boat rentals, antiquing information or where the best beach is, please do not hesitate to ask us.

For the comfort of all our guests, the “Cottage” is a non-smoking property and pets are not allowed. Children over 12 years old welcome. Guest under 21 years old must be accomodied by an adult.

Holidays and high season weekends.: A two night minimum stay is required.
Reservation Policy:
A 50% deposit per night, per room is required to hold a reservation.
Cancellation Policy: May1 through October 15
If reservation is cancelled within two weeks of arrival deposit is nonrefundable unless room is rerented. If room is rerented, deposit is returned less 10% accounting fee. We are sorry to impose these fees but it has become necessary. No refunds after check in. Full amount of reservation charged to credit card for not keeping reservation. Quiet Season cancellation charges according to reservation.
